Destiny 2 - New Legends Will Rise

After several months of speculation, Destiny 2 has finally had an official trailer. Unfortunately, not one scene of which actually included any gameplay footage. Destiny has captivated a devoted gamer fan-base since it first launched on September 9, 2014.

In the teaser trailer titled "Last Call", Cayde-6 (portrayed by none other than Nathan Fillion) recounts the events that transpired leading to the fall of the Vanguard's Hall of Guardians while presumably taking some "creative liberties" on his heroic performance whilst defending himself as well as his comrades Ikora Rey and Commander Zavala.

In the featured trailer, he makes an attempt at rallying the various Guardians spread throughout the ruins of what was once the Tower or the last city on Earth. Comically however, his motivational speech is not nearly as impressive as Commander Zavala's but with the promise of "loot", the Guardians in his midst are rearing to take on the Cabal who had the "Ghaul" to invade and destroy the Vaults containing the Guardians' arsenals (pun intended).

The official description of the reveal trailer reads as follows:

"Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion. He has stripped the city’s Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home."

More info is said to come via a future livestream on May 18th, 2017. Players who pre-order will be the first to obtain BETA access to the game, but there will be an Open BETA at a later date.

My Thoughts
My expectations for this game are at an all time low because I'm skeptical (and cynical) that the plot of this sequel will have any real substance.

In addition, knowing that Bungie had DLC expansions, I can at least somewhat predict that the same pattern will occur once again. As such, I suspect that Season Pass will be offered. Let's recap on when the original game released its downloadable content:

1.) The Dark Below released on December 9, 2014
(91 days from the time of the launch of Destiny or approximately 3 months).

2.) House of Wolves released on May 19, 2015
(252 days from the date of the launch of Destiny or 8 months, 10 days).
(161 days from the date of the release of The Dark Below Expansion or 5 months, 10 days)

3.) The Taken King released on September 15, 2015
(371 days from the date of the launch of Destiny or 1 year, 6 days).
(119 days from the date of the release of the House of Wolves Expansion or 3 months, 27 days).

4.) The Rise of Iron released on September 20, 2016
(742 days from the date of the launch of Destiny or 2 years, 11 days)
(371 days from the  date of the release of The Taken King Expansion or 1 year, 5 days)

So we have a rough idea of how spread apart the expansions were for the first title. Does this mean that Destiny 2 will follow the same trend? Not necessarily, but at least it's a starting point. On average, each expansion comes out somewhere between 3-5 months apart from one another (with exceptions regarding the last one).

You can watch the announcement trailer down below.

I'm looking forward to seeing the gameplay in action at this year's E3 convention, but I am cautiously optimistic, especially since I wasn't really content with the combat system the first game had implemented. You can read my thorough review of Dragon Ball Xenoverse here. I'm eager to fight against Towa and Mira once more, but if key components of the game are still left unchecked, I may pass on this title.

Mech Check, Testing, 1, 2, 3!!!

No, that's no typo (it's more of a pun on how often I come up on the Internet blog stage to talk to you all...I'm making sure the "mic" or "mech" in this instance is still working). I'm excited to be talking today to you all about another Kickstarter campaign I've stumbled across on my news feeds. It's called Project Nimbus by KISS Ltd. and it's about mechanized robots which are essentially humaniod machines controlled by human pilots (often for the purpose of warfare or competitive combat).

Project Nimbus

I've always loved the giant robot/mecha genre in both movies and games but the latter of the two is sort of lacking in terms of production.

For me, the last game that I personally owned and played with that dealt specifically with robots in a free-roaming-like environment was Custom Robo Arena (released in North America on March 19, 2007). It was a fun game but Nintendo hasn't published another installment to the franchise and to me, that's a little bit disheartening because I (and many others I'm certain) would really enjoy a new game either on the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U (preferably on both).

Nonetheless, Project Nimbus will be a "high speed mech action game set in a post apocalyptic world. Players control 'BattleFrames' - humanoid battles suits armed with an arsenal of weapons."

When they say "High Speed", they're not kidding around!!!
The game is apparently set in the late 21st century (known as the "Age of Sky"); taking place decades after a massive war broke out which decimated the entire surface of the Earth, causing it to no longer be able to sufficiently sustain human life. Thus, mankind had to take refuge in the heavens.

The world (or perhaps the skies) are divided into three different factions; each possessing its own orbital elevator that generates energy to keep the flying cities stable.

Players fly freely in the sky, dodge and intercept incoming missiles with machine guns and particle blades/beamswords, fighting colossal armies with the power to annihilate nearly anything imaginable, all while engaging with many ace BattleFrame pilots, each with their own unique, individualistic fighting styles and backstories.

The game seems to be reminiscent of Zone of the Enders (Konami, 2001) with its level of control in a three-dimensional environment. However, unlike Z.O.E, you can replay any of the cleared story missions with all of the BattleFrames you have encountered in your campaign. That means that your allies and the various enemy BattleFrames are available to pilot, from the grunts to even the ‘boss’ BattleFrames. Every ace pilot’s personal machine can be yours for the taking.

As of this post, the project will be funded on Saturday Jan 25, 10:03pm EST (it's currently raised £9,939 of its £6,000 goal). However, the development team as some pretty sweet stretch goals that it's trying to reach. (I've got a snapshot of them here for you to take a look at.)

The game is being made in Thailand (which is why GameCrafterTeam noted that the initial goal was so low. The cost of living in Phuket, Thailand (I laughed at that name.) is apparently much lower than in other locations). So their £6,000 goal converts to approximately $9801.60.

The game will be available on STEAM and may have multiplayer functionality later on (I'm REALLY banking on that feature. It seems almost a necessity for this genre). So, if you'd like to contribute, please visit the Project Nimbus Kickstarter Page.

Busted by the Admins on Miiverse (BAM!!!)

So, in an attempt to increase the knowledge of those American or English speaking European posters on the Miiverse Dragon Quest X Community page, I decided to post a few links to this blog. Unfortunately, this is an apparent violation of the terms of service. Thus, I've been banned from making posts for a while.

"Miiverse Administration: You have been temporarily banned from writing messages or community posts for two weeks due to your violation of the Miiverse Code of Conduct. If you continue to violate the Miiverse Code of Conduct, you may be permanently banned from writing messages or community posts." Ironically, one of the reasons that I was banned was because Nintendo claims that:"Your posts have been removed because they contained information related to an outside service (such as a username or ID) or links to external websites that could be used to contact you directly. The sharing of personal information is prohibited by the Miiverse Code of Conduct. For information on the proper use of Miiverse, please see the Miiverse Code of Conduct. Continued violations may result in restrictions of your Miiverse account."

First and foremost, I've deliberately setup my account here on Blogger/Blogspot so that you may NOT contact me directly. This is not only my own personal preference, but a safety precaution on my own part. There are no provided e-mail addresses, no private message options, or any indication of my location or telephone numbers outside of the database that Google keeps tract of for establishing an account with them. In addition, all posts are clearly visible to third parties (thus eliminating private conversations and any potential child predator action) I have created this blog as a public forum for all ages and I intend to keep it that way. Secondly, my username is no different from the one I use on Miiverse so that argument is invalid.

I don't think Nintendo realizes how the internet works...You can take snapshots of Miiverse posts from PCs...I'm fairly certain you can do the same thing on a few smartphones as well...

Finally, the Miiverse can now be accessed by PCs and Smartphone devices, thus making it even more susceptible to watchful eyes. I'm fairly certain that people would "blow the whistle" or "raise a red flag" if they suspected a child predator of making a move. If anything, I'm rather surprised that Nintendo was able to notice my actions so quickly on the Japanese Miiverse boards. Kudos to the response time, boo to the response. I understand that Nintendo doesn't necessarily have the time nor the resources to look into every little URL that comes across the Miiverse, and that it would be impractical to run checks on all of them, but honestly? That should not limited them from at least looking into providing alternative solutions for passionate gamers that want to share their knowledge without that restrictive 100 character posting limit.

So, in the two weeks time, I probably won't be posting anything of the Miiverse, but worry not, I'll be posting away soon enough. I'm going to study for my final exams in the meantime and formulate a plan to work around this restriction on posting links. I find it absolutely ludicrous. My intentions are pure and I'm not trying to solicit anything.

Alternatively, people are just going to end up saying "Google this:___________" or Look up: "themulti-classinggamer.blogspot" (Which I did two hours ago and the post is still up). So it sort of defeats the purpose there...What's even more interesting is that although I can't sign in on a PC or smartphone at the moment, I can still access the Miiverse on my Wii U gamepad and view posts, I just can't comment or "Yeah" any of them...which doesn't seem like much of a sanction/punishment in my book...but considering my predicament, I'm not complaining...much. I intend to inform those that are interested of the amazing games that are abroad, regardless of Nintendo's ridiculously excessive and paternalistic policy. People need to know what they're missing out on. I intend to inform them.

Overall, I truly do enjoy the Miiverse community and the artistic talents of many of my fellow gamers. I'm pleased when others ask questions about upcoming titles and I love to respond with my knowledge and expertise. I'm even content with the anti-spoiler options set in place (although they are a bit of a nuisance at times...especially for the Virtual Console games you've already played...they need a "Set Default" option for all of the communities.)

I'd rather not resort to writing or calling the Miiverse staff, but if I get permanently banned for this issue, I will file formal complaints.

Summer Vacation...I Eagerly Await Your Embrace

Hey folks!!! Quick little update since I'm in my final week of college classes before I take my final exams and enjoy my summer break. I'm excited to inform you that I have pre-ordered my copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS (I've got $25 dollars on it thus far, courtesy of e-Rewards.com) and Watch Dogs for the Wii U. I did a LOT of surveys to get that gift card, but it was well worth it and I intend to do more.

I'm really excited that Nintendo has made the Miiverse available now for PC and smartphone devices. It's neat to be able to see posts from consoles (which are still technically a type of computer) interacting with computers. I like that I can also post from any PC or Mac, but the downside is that you cannot create a new post, but merely reply to an existing one thus far.

I'm enjoying the artwork and witty banter from some of the posters. There are lots of talented artists and it's inspiring to see such dedication to each series.

I'll be going back to my seasonal occupation in retail so I can make some money for textbooks for next semester as well as extra cash for future video game purchases (if possible). Nonetheless, I want to (ideally) post something new every Friday (or every other Friday).
